Pilot competency overview
Remote pilots should hold competency evidence proportionate to operation type. For basic operations, recognised online learning and self-declaration may suffice. Higher-risk operations require structured assessment.
Certificates and licences
The EAA intends to publish competency pathways for open, specific and specialised operation categories, including conversion pathways for equivalent foreign credentials.
Medical and personal responsibility
Pilots are responsible for judging fitness before each flight. Do not fly when fatigued, impaired, unwell, or otherwise unable to maintain safe control and decision-making.
Training and recency expectations
Maintain regular practice, keep records of scenario-based training and review relevant notices. Commercial operators should include recurrent training in safety management procedures.
